An executive from Jaguar confirmed that the car manufacturer has given the green light for the rumored wagon version of the Jaguar XF sedan. For Jaguar lovers in North America, it is a bad news that the XF wagon might not reach its shores.

Reports say that the information came from an Engineering Manager of Jaguar saying that the XF wagon is on the cars. Another executive that handles the design for the brand said that the XF wagon will be something different and it will come with panache and character.

The Jaguar Land Rover in North America has reviewed their line up and understands the gaps that they need to fill thru expansion. The XF estate is a vehicle that they may consider in the future but they do not have plans for the wagon at the moment and did not release more information with regard to probable timing, details, or any confirmation for the XF wagon in North America.

Jaguar marketed an Estate model called X-Type Sportswagon in the United States back in 2005 running through 2008 but the vehicle went on a slow phase in the market.

The Jaguar really has done a lot to make it good in the luxury segment with their current line of XF, XJ, and XK which can make car lovers drool for their design lines. It may really good timing for Jaguar to release the XF wagon as the competition plans to roll out their bets like BMW working on the M5 Estate, Cadillac on their Sport Wagon CTS-V, and E63 AMG Estate from Mercedes Benz.

Tata Motors Ltd. released its plans to have Jaguar in the upmarket veering away from plans of the previous owner, Ford Motor Co., to increase volume. Tata is inclined to produce a derivative of the XF but is not going for an SUV.

According to dealers who met with Tata top executives, Jaguar is lining up production of three new cars. This may include an XF sedan, which may come as a roadster and coupe, a sports car, and a luxury car. Details about the design or engineering of the vehicles were not revealed.

An SUV development was warded off by Jaguar since one will compete with the brand Land Rover which is also owned by Ratan Tata. The SUV also doesn’t fit the overall picture that the new owner has envisioned for Jaguar, to move up in the luxury car market place.

The roadster being developed by Jaguar will be positioned behind the line of XK that has a sticker of approximately $79000. The car will be shorter than the XK. It is primarily targeting the market of Porsche 911, BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK, and Porsche Boxter.

Dealers have seen the models of the XJ and have no comments but praises for the redesigned vehicle. The XJ is expected to head the Jaguar range in its thrust to regain footing on the upper end of the market.

There are also callings for the production of vehicles that can compete with the 3 Series of BMW. Jaguar’s X Type was the volume car but the company has stopped production last December of 2007.

Without the X Type, the Jaguar sales figures are down by 3%. They only sold 12575 units through this year compared to 2003 figures of over 46K units sold through October.

Replacing the S-type, this XF is a real looker, while at the same time having excellent performance, especially in the 4.2 litre V8 petrol version…

There is a V6 2.7 litre diesel versiona available too — which should allow the Jaguar XF to be used as an alternative car fuels driven sports sedan by using biodiesel, for example…

For us – it’s all about the looks, baby.
